Requirements by Operation Type
Private and business jet flights require permits.
All non-scheduled flights require prior permit. Navigation fees must be pre-deposited.
Scheduled services governed by bilateral agreements.
Overflight Permit
- Required: Yes
- Authority: CAAZ
- Lead Time: 24-72 hours; flight plan at least 24 hours before flight
- Validity: 72 hours from initial requested schedule
- Fees: No CAA processing fees; enroute and navigation fees must be deposited to CAA account prior to clearance
Enroute/navigation fees must be pre-deposited before clearance is authorized. Changes must be submitted 72 hours in advance via CAAZ portal.
Submit to CAAZ with number of passengers, aircraft registration/type/colors, estimated departure time, route, entry/exit points, and ETA at destination. Pre-deposit navigation fees.
Landing Permit
- Required: Yes
- Authority: CAAZ
- Lead Time: 48-72 hours before departure
- Validity: 72 hours from initial requested schedule
- Fees: Landing and parking fees apply; pre-deposit of fees may be required
Applies to private/business jets, charter flights, non-scheduled commercial ops, humanitarian/medevac, and tech stops exceeding 2 hours.
Submit application to CAAZ via fltpermits@caaz.co.zw with full flight details. Follow up telephonically.
Cabotage
Prohibited for foreign operators
