Requirements by Operation Type

Private flights require permits with 3-day lead time. CAA working hours 0700Z to 1200Z may affect processing.

Non-scheduled charter flights require minimum 3 working days lead time. Application to DGAC Direction du Transport Aerien.

Scheduled services under bilateral agreements. OACA manages airport operations.

Overflight Permit

  • Required: Conditional
  • Authority: Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) under Ministry of Transport
  • Lead Time: Minimum 3 working days (72 hours) for non-scheduled/charter flights
  • Validity: +72 hours from initial requested schedule
  • Fees: No CAA processing fees; air navigation charges apply
Remarks:

Scheduled flights from ICAO contracting states may not require separate overflight permits. Non-scheduled and charter flights require prior permission from DGAC.

Application Process:

Submit application to Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile, Direction du Transport Aerien, BP 179, 2035 Tunis CEDEX or via email to air.transport@mt.gov.tn at least 3 working days before departure. Include flight schedule, purpose, and crew details.

Landing Permit

  • Required: Yes
  • Authority: Direction Generale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) under Ministry of Transport
  • Lead Time: Minimum 3 working days for non-scheduled/charter flights
  • Validity: +72 hours from initial requested schedule
  • Fees: Landing and parking fees apply; managed by OACA
Remarks:

Non-scheduled charter flights require application forwarded to the Ministry of Transport DGAC.

Application Process:

Forward application to DGAC at Ministry of Transport with full documentation at least 3 working days before expected departure date.

Cabotage

Not permitted for foreign operators

General Remarks

Tunisia CAA working hours are limited: 0700Z to 1200Z. Permit number (format DGAC XX/XXX/XX) must be inserted in Item 18 of flight plan. OACA manages airport infrastructure while DGAC handles air transport regulation.
