Requirements by Operation Type
Private flights require full permits. Same lead time requirements. CAA closed Friday-Saturday may affect processing.
All non-scheduled flights including charter require prior permission with 48-72 hour lead time. Applications processed during CAA working hours only.
Scheduled services require bilateral agreement approval. Seasonal schedule filings required.
Overflight Permit

All foreign aircraft require overflight permits. CAA operating hours 0900Z to 1600Z Monday to Thursday. Weekends are Friday and Saturday when CAA is generally closed except for urgent requests.
Submit application to DACM Air Transport Department at least 48-72 working hours before departure. Provide flight schedule, routing, aircraft documentation, crew details. Permit number must be in Item 18 of flight plan.
Landing Permit

- Validity: +72 hours from initial requested schedule
- Fees: Landing and parking fees apply; air navigation charges based on MTOW
Non-scheduled charter flights must apply to the Ministere du Transport. All documentation including crew and passenger details required.
Submit application to DACM or Ministry of Transport with full flight details, aircraft documentation, insurance certificates, crew list, passenger manifest, and purpose of flight.
Cabotage
Not permitted for foreign operators
General Remarks
Algeria has a very large airspace (largest country in Africa). CAA working hours are limited (0900Z-1600Z, Mon-Thu). Weekend closure on Friday-Saturday can delay permit processing. Plan applications well in advance accounting for working day limitations.
