Requirements by Operation Type

Private non-revenue flights generally do not require permits. Standard Schengen entry procedures apply.

Third-country carriers with aircraft 10+ pax seats or MTOM >5,700 kg need landing permit from Ministry of Transport Civil Aviation Department.

Covered by bilateral air service agreements. EU carriers operate freely under EU Regulation 1008/2008.

Overflight Permit

  • Fees: Eurocontrol route charges only. Dangerous goods overflight permit: 100 EUR per flight.
Remarks:

Overflight permit required only for flights carrying dangerous goods (100 EUR fee). Standard civil overflights do not require a permit.

Application Process:

For dangerous goods: submit application to Civil Aviation Department of the Ministry of Transport. Standard overflights: file ICAO flight plan only.

Landing Permit

  • Validity: Per flight or series as specified
  • Fees: No CAA processing fee; standard airport and navigation charges apply
Remarks:

Required for non-EU carriers performing non-scheduled commercial flights with aircraft having 10+ passenger seats or MTOM above 5,700 kg. EU carriers exempt for intra-EU flights.

Application Process:

Submit application to flights@md.gov.cz at least 3 working days before the flight. Include Certificate of Registration, Airworthiness Certificate, Insurance, Pilot License, Passenger/Crew Manifest, Flight Schedule.

Cabotage

Prohibited for non-EU carriers. EU carriers may operate cabotage under EU Regulation 1008/2008.

General Remarks

Czech Republic is an EU and Schengen member state. Commercial flight permits are handled by the Ministry of Transport, not the CAA directly. EASA TCO authorization required for third-country commercial operators.
