Requirements by Operation Type

Private flights require Aerocivil notification. Landing at designated international airports.

Overflight Permit

Remarks:

Required for ALL foreign aircraft, including operations over San Andres Island (within the Panamanian FIR). Aircraft and engine serial numbers must be included with every permit request or Aerocivil will not process the application. Aerocivil operates Mon-Fri 1300Z-2200Z.

Application Process:

1. Submit overflight request to Aerocivil at least 3 business days before (Mon-Fri 1300Z-2200Z) 2. CRITICAL: include aircraft AND engine serial numbers in every request 3. Provide: aircraft registration, AOC, insurance, flight plan 4. No CAA processing fees charged 5. Short-notice requests (minimum 48 hours) considered case-by-case 6. Note: flights over San Andres Island require Colombia overflight permit even though it is within the Panamanian FIR

Landing Permit

Remarks:

Private non-revenue: NO landing permit needed if staying 48 hours or less at a single airport. Multi-airport operations or stays >48 hours require a landing permit. Charter aircraft: 48-hour exemption applies only for Bombardier Global / Gulfstream GLF5 size and smaller. Larger charter aircraft (ACJ, BBJ, etc.) require landing permits regardless of stay duration. Always include aircraft and engine serial numbers.
