Requirements by Operation Type
Prior permission required. Private passenger overflight permits available. Full aircraft documentation required even for private operations.
Prior permission required for all non-scheduled flights including charter passenger, private passenger, and non-schedule cargo. Monthly block permits available for non-scheduled airline flights.
Seasonal block permits available for scheduled commercial airlines. Bilateral air service agreements govern scheduled operations.
Overflight Permit

- Lead Time: 48 working hours minimum; 3 working days recommended for non-scheduled
- Validity: 72 hours from initial requested schedule
- Fees: No CAA processing fees; route navigation facility charges apply based on route flown in Bangladesh FIR
Monthly and seasonal block overflight permits available for scheduled and non-scheduled airline flights. AFTN must be included in flight plan. Item 18 of flight plan must include approved overflight permission number.
Apply through CAAB Air Transport Department with complete flight details, crew/passenger details, and aircraft documents (AOC, COA, COI, COR, CON, Radio License, TCAS Approval). Short-notice permission subject to CAAB approval.
Landing Permit
- Required: Yes
- Authority: Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB)
- Lead Time: 7 working days for traffic landing; 3 working days for technical landing
- Validity: 72 hours from initial requested schedule
- Fees: USD 195 CAA processing fee for landing permit; navigation and parking charges additional
Short-notice landing permission can be obtained subject to CAAB approval. Complete crew and passenger details required.
Apply through CAAB Air Transport Department at least 7 working days prior (traffic) or 3 working days prior (technical). Submit complete flight details and full aircraft document set.
Cabotage
Not permitted for foreign operators
General Remarks
Bangladesh is a signatory to the Chicago Convention. All operations in Bangladesh FIR require prior clearance. CAAB working hours should be considered when planning applications.
