Civil Aviation Authority

Estimated Processing Time

Medium Landing: 5 days

Requirements by Operation Type

Private flights need ANAC notification. Customs clearance at designated international airports only.

Charter flights require ANAC permit with 5 business days notice. Overflight generally not restricted.

Bilateral agreements apply. ANAC coordinates with EANA for slot allocation.

Overflight Permit

  • Required: Yes
  • Authority: ANAC
  • Lead Time: 48-72 working hours (apply Mon-Fri 0800-1600 local / 1100-1900 UTC)
  • Validity: Per schedule
  • Fees: Navigation charges (EANA)
Remarks:

Effective March 13, 2025, all foreign aircraft now require an overflight permit when transiting Argentine airspace -- this includes private non-revenue flights that were previously exempt. Humanitarian/emergency flights may receive expedited processing and can apply on weekends.

Application Process:

1. Submit overflight permit request to ANAC at least 48-72 working hours before flight 2. Applications accepted Mon-Fri 0800-1600 local (1100-1900 UTC) 3. Provide: aircraft registration, insurance, flight plan, crew information 4. Permit required for ALL foreign aircraft since March 13, 2025 (including private non-revenue) 5. Humanitarian/emergency flights: expedited processing available, weekend applications accepted 6. Await confirmation from ANAC

Landing Permit

  • Required: Conditional
  • Authority: ANAC / Argentine Air Force (for Falklands routing)
  • Lead Time: 48-72 working hours (standard); 7 business days (charter Class C+ or Falkland Islands via Argentine airspace)
  • Validity: Per schedule
  • Fees: Landing/parking fees; EANA navigation charges
Remarks:

Private non-revenue flights do NOT require landing permits (except Falkland Islands via Argentine airspace). Charter operations on Class C or larger aircraft require landing permits with 7 business day lead time. Falklands routing through Argentine airspace requires processing through both the Argentine Air Force and ANAC. ANAC reforms effective March 1, 2026 reduce administrative burdens: VFR private flights no longer need flight plans; night VFR permitted nationally.

Application Process:

1. For private non-revenue: NO landing permit required (file ICAO flight plan only) 2. For charter (Class C or larger aircraft): submit landing permit request to ANAC at least 7 business days before 3. For Falkland Islands via Argentine airspace: 7 business day lead time, processed through Argentine Air Force and ANAC 4. Provide: full aircraft documentation, insurance, crew licenses, passenger manifest (charter) 5. Applications accepted Mon-Fri 0800-1600 local 6. Receive authorization valid per schedule

Cabotage

No (foreign aircraft cannot transport passengers/cargo between Argentine points)

General Remarks

Major change March 13, 2025: overflight permits now required for all foreign aircraft. Private non-revenue landing permits remain exempt. Additional ANAC reforms effective March 1, 2026: VFR private flights exempt from flight plan filing, night VFR allowed nationally, single-pilot ops permitted with 3-axis autopilot.
