V2
V2 (Takeoff Safety Speed) is the minimum speed at which the aircraft can safely climb with one engine inoperative and the remaining engine(s) at takeoff thrust. It must be achieved by 35 feet above the runway and maintained during the initial climb to ensure regulatory climb gradient requirements are met.
- V2 ≥ 1.13 × Vs1g (stall speed in takeoff configuration) for jet aircraft
- Provides a minimum 2.4% climb gradient (two engines), 2.7% (three engines), or 3.0% (four engines) with one engine failed
- The target speed in the event of an engine failure after V1
- Calculated for each takeoff based on weight and conditions
