Taxiway

Taxiway is a defined path on an airport established for the taxiing of aircraft, connecting runways with aprons, terminals, hangars, and other facilities. Taxiways are designated by letters (A, B, C) or letter-number combinations (A1, B2).

Taxiway markings and lighting:

  • Centerline: Yellow continuous line
  • Edge markings: Double yellow lines
  • Holding position: Two solid and two dashed yellow lines before runway intersection
  • Edge lights: Blue
  • Centerline lights: Green

High-speed taxiways (rapid exit taxiways) allow landing aircraft to exit the runway at higher speeds, increasing runway capacity.
