Stall Warning
Stall Warning is a system designed to alert the flight crew when the aircraft is approaching the critical angle of attack beyond which the wing will stall and lose lift. Early warning gives the crew time to reduce the angle of attack and recover before a full stall occurs.
- Stick shaker: vibrates the control column to provide a tactile and audible warning
- Stick pusher: physically pushes the control column forward to reduce angle of attack (some aircraft)
- Angle of Attack (AoA) indicator: visual display of current AoA relative to stall
- Warnings typically activate 5–10% before the stall angle of attack
- Stall protection systems can be inhibited in some emergencies
