Sidestick

Sidestick is a compact control device mounted on the side console (left for the captain, right for the first officer) that replaces the traditional center-mounted control yoke in fly-by-wire aircraft. Airbus introduced sidestick controls with the A320 family.

Sidestick advantages include more instrument panel visibility, room for fold-out tables, and lighter weight. Unlike linked yokes, Airbus sidesticks operate independently — they do not move in response to the other pilot inputs, which requires clear communication between pilots.
