Prop Wash

Prop Wash is the disturbed, accelerated air behind a spinning propeller. Similar to wake turbulence from wings, prop wash can affect aircraft taxiing or flying close behind a propeller-driven aircraft.

Prop wash is most significant from large turboprop aircraft at high power settings. Ground personnel and small aircraft should exercise caution behind operating propeller aircraft, maintaining safe distance especially during engine run-ups and taxi.
