Parking Stand

Parking Stand is a designated area on an airport apron where an aircraft parks for passenger boarding/deplaning, cargo loading, refueling, maintenance, or overnight stays. Stands can be at a terminal gate (contact stand) or on a remote position requiring bus transport.

  • Contact stand: connected to the terminal via jet bridge/aerobridge
  • Remote stand: requires bus or walk to the terminal
  • Stand size is based on aircraft wingspan and ICAO code letter (A through F)
  • VDGS (Visual Docking Guidance System) helps pilots park precisely at gate stands
  • Marshaller provides hand signals for remote stands without VDGS
