OAT

OAT (Outside Air Temperature) is the temperature of the air outside the aircraft, also referred to as SAT (Static Air Temperature). OAT is critical for aircraft performance calculations, as air density affects lift, engine performance, and true airspeed.

At cruise altitudes, the measured temperature is corrected for compressibility effects (ram rise) to obtain the true OAT from the TAT (Total Air Temperature) indicated by the probe.
