Medical Certificate

Medical Certificate is an official document issued by an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) after a medical examination, certifying that a pilot meets the physical and mental health standards required for the class of license held. Without a valid medical certificate, a pilot cannot exercise the privileges of their license.

  • Class 1: Required for Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) — most stringent, valid 12 months (6 months if over age 40)
  • Class 2: Required for Commercial Pilot License (CPL) — valid 12 months
  • Class 3: Required for Private Pilot License (PPL) — valid 24–60 months depending on age
  • Covers vision, hearing, cardiovascular, neurological, psychiatric, and general fitness
