Compass Rose

Compass Rose is a circle of precise magnetic heading markings painted on a magnetically clean area of the airport surface (usually a remote taxiway or apron). Pilots taxi the aircraft onto the compass rose to swing (calibrate) the magnetic compass and record deviation errors on a compass correction card.

The term also refers to the directional symbol on navigation charts showing the relationship between true and magnetic north.
