Certificate of Airworthiness
Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) is an official document issued by the national aviation authority certifying that an aircraft has been inspected and found to comply with applicable airworthiness requirements. Without a valid C of A, an aircraft cannot legally operate.
- Standard C of A: issued for aircraft meeting ICAO/national type certification standards
- Restricted C of A: for experimental, agricultural, or other special-purpose aircraft
- Must be renewed periodically — typically annually with inspection by an approved organization
- Can be suspended or revoked for non-compliance, damage, or modification without approval
- Must be carried on board the aircraft at all times during flight
