ARFF

ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) refers to the specialized firefighting and rescue services provided at airports. ARFF units are equipped with purpose-built vehicles carrying foam, dry chemical, and water agents designed to rapidly suppress aviation fuel fires.

ICAO categorizes airports into ARFF categories (1-10) based on the largest aircraft they regularly serve, determining the minimum required equipment, extinguishing agents, and response times. Category 10 airports must be able to reach any point on the runway within 3 minutes.
