Beijing Daxing International Airport
A Journey Through Time
2019 — 2022
Beijing Daxing International Airport opened on 25 September 2019, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The starfish-shaped terminal is the world's largest single-structure airport terminal at 700,000 sqm.
The airport was built in just four years at a cost of ¥80 billion ($11.5 billion), and featured the world's first double-decker bridge for aircraft boarding at every gate.
Daxing was designed as the primary hub for China Eastern and China Southern airlines, while Beijing Capital serves Air China and Star Alliance partners, splitting Beijing's air traffic between two mega-airports.
