Changi
A Journey Through Time
1981 — 2024
Singapore Changi Airport opened on 1 July 1981, replacing the overcrowded Paya Lebar Airport. Terminal 1 was designed with a garden-city concept that became Changi's signature.
Jewel Changi Airport opened in April 2019, featuring the HSBC Rain Vortex — the world's tallest indoor waterfall at 40 metres — surrounded by a terraced indoor forest with over 2,000 trees.
Changi was named World's Best Airport by Skytrax for the 12th time, more than any other airport in history, cementing its status as the gold standard for airport experience.
