Soekarno-Hatta Intl
A Journey Through Time
1985 — 2023
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport opened on 1 April 1985 in Tangerang, Banten. Designed by Paul Andreu, the terminal buildings feature traditional Javanese joglo roof designs.
Terminal 3 Ultimate opened in 2016, adding capacity for 25 million passengers with a modern glass-and-steel design — a dramatic contrast to the original Indonesian vernacular terminals.
The airport Skytrain automated people mover system connected all three terminals, and Soekarno-Hatta consistently handled over 65 million passengers, making it the busiest airport in the Southern Hemisphere.
