1950s
1957

Aeroporto de Brasília opened alongside the construction of the new federal capital in 1957, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. It was one of the first airports built from scratch for a planned city.

2010s
2014

Terminal 1 was completely rebuilt for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, tripling capacity and featuring a modern glass-and-steel design by Brazilian architects Biselli Katchborian.

2019

Brasília became the third-busiest airport in Brazil, handling over 16 million passengers. Its central location makes it a natural connecting hub for domestic routes.
