1930s
1931

Haneda Airport (Tokyo Airfield) opened on 25 August 1931 as Japans first dedicated civil aviation airport, initially operating with a single 300-metre grass runway.

1970s
1978

Following the opening of Narita Airport in 1978, Haneda was restricted to domestic flights only. This began a 32-year period where the airport served exclusively as Japans domestic hub.

2010s
2010

The new International Terminal (now Terminal 3) opened on 21 October 2010, restoring scheduled international service to Haneda for the first time in over three decades.
