1948

Zurich Airport (Kloten) opened on 14 June 1948, replacing the military airfield at Dübendorf. It was built with a distinctive observation deck that became a popular weekend attraction.

2000s
2003

The airport opened the Airside Center, a midfield terminal connecting all piers, featuring a striking steel-and-glass design by architect Nicholas Grimshaw.

2010s
2011

Zurich Airport became the primary hub for Swiss International Air Lines and was repeatedly rated among the top ten airports in Europe by Skytrax for its efficiency and cleanliness.
