Charles-De-Gaulle
A Journey Through Time
1974 — 2004
Aeroport Paris-Charles de Gaulle opened on 8 March 1974, featuring the futuristic Aerogare 1 designed by Paul Andreu with its circular satellite layout connected by underground moving walkways.
Air France consolidated its global hub operations at CDG Terminal 2, making it the airlines primary intercontinental gateway and one of Europes busiest connecting airports.
On 23 May 2004, a section of the Terminal 2E departure lounge ceiling collapsed shortly after opening, killing four people. The terminal was rebuilt with an entirely new roof structure and reopened in 2008.
