Gardermoen
A Journey Through Time
1998 — 2020
Oslo Airport Gardermoen opened on 8 October 1998, replacing the undersized Fornebu Airport. The terminal's Nordic wood-and-glass design by Aviaplan won the European Union Prize for Architecture.
A new non-Schengen pier opened in 2017, expanding the airport's capacity. Oslo Airport became the world's most energy-efficient airport, powered largely by renewable energy.
The Flytoget high-speed rail service celebrated carrying its 100 millionth passenger, having connected the airport to Oslo city centre in 19 minutes since opening.
