1920s
1925

Copenhagen Airport opened on 20 April 1925 as one of the first civil airports in Northern Europe. It initially served as a base for DDL (Det Danske Luftfartselskab) domestic routes.

1960s
1960

SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) established Copenhagen as its primary intercontinental hub, launching polar routes to Tokyo and Los Angeles that pioneered Arctic Circle aviation.

1990s
1998

Terminal 3 and the Copenhagen Metro connection opened, along with the Øresund Bridge linking Copenhagen to Malmö, Sweden — making Kastrup a binational hub for two countries.
