Farnborough Airport
A Journey Through Time
1908 — 2019
The first powered flight in the United Kingdom took place at Farnborough on 16 October 1908, when Samuel Cody flew British Army Aeroplane No 1.
From April 1912 the site was home to the Royal Aircraft Factory, which designed and tested military aircraft here until it was renamed in 1918.
In 2003 the Ministry of Defence ended its operations at Farnborough and the airfield was taken over by TAG Aviation as a business aviation airport.
A new terminal building opened at Farnborough in 2006, designed by Reid Architecture and Buro Happold.
In September 2019 TAG Farnborough Airport Ltd was acquired by Macquarie, and in October the operating company changed its name to Farnborough Airport Ltd.
